The Merchant Company has a long tradition of mentoring and for MyEdinburgh this means bringing experienced business professionals and entrepreneurs in to use their skills and expertise within our collaborations and initiatives.
These mentors work with those tackling the issues, offering guidance, encouragement, and strategic insight. Their expertise covers all areas of business, including business planning, marketing, finance, intellectual property and investment strategy. They also tap into their wider networks and organisations that can help shape viable and sustainable solutions that will help everyone in Edinburgh to thrive.

While the core mission of MyEdinburgh is to build a collaborative network and deliver our mission of helping everyone in Edinburgh to thrive, we need more than membership, we need action. We need collaboration.
Our Impact Pyramid helps turn bold ideas into action, starting with the solid basis of the experienced mentors who can support the growth of those creating the collective initiatives that will help shape Edinburgh’s future.
MENTORING:
Our mentors provide a solid foundation working with our members who are actively trying to make a difference to the lives of the people in Edinburgh. They are experienced professionals who volunteer to offer business and strategic guidance, support and encouragement, and access to wider networks to help find solutions.
COLLABORATIVES:
Big ideas need diverse voices. We support members to lead themed working groups that bring like-minded people together to explore challenges affecting Edinburgh, share knowledge and tools, co-design solutions and pilot new approaches.
INITIATIVES:
When great ideas show potential, we help them grow. Initiatives are long-term projects powered by our membership community. Some of our current focus areas include intergenerational collaboration, grassroots community spaces collaboration, and green spaces.
